Good afternoon everyone! Monday, Monday, so good to me! It’s day 14 of the challenge I’m over one tenth of the way there, haha!
I’m really enjoying this process and challenge and it’s great to hear from you all about how seeing these pieces really helps to brighten your days! If I can add a little brightness to the world each day then that’s a pretty terrific thing to achieve, and a thought that helps give me momentum!
Last week I gave myself a couple of mini goals
Incorporate more realistic flowers.
Have one piece with no embellishments.
I’d say I was successful in achieving the first goal, and I think I did relatively well in allowing the flowers to speak for themselves without decoration on a few pieces. However, I’ve learned that it’s really the decorative elements and design that I really enjoy when it comes to this challenge and an aspect I want to preserve going forward.
You can see there’s been a change in medium part way through this week, I’ve started using the white gelly roll on black paper. I have an awful process for watercolour painting, I sit on my living room floor and have the worst posture when I paint and after a few days of doing that every night my back, shoulder and neck really started to hurt, so I moved into doing drawing as I can sit on my couch with slightly better posture.
It came at a nice point in the challenge though, as I had completed 10 watercolour paintings, and now I’m going to do 10 black and white drawings. I’ve decided help keep myself on track with this task I’ll break the 100 up into 10 sets of 10 flowers with a different medium per set, I’d love to hear any suggestions on mediums you would like to see me tackle!
My mini goal for this week is
Experiment with the foliage,
I’ve been doing the same leaf design the last few pieces, so I want to push the shapes and linework of the leaves and foliage to see how that can add to the decoration and compositions of the pieces.
Right lovely people, I’m going to get crack-a-lacking!
See you next week.
